PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lapping device for increasing efficiency in manufacturing work of a gear. SOLUTION: This lapping device has a lapping means for lapping the gear, and solves the problem by having a measuring means for measuring a tooth butting state and/or a shape of the gear, and an aptitude determining means for determining whether the tooth butting state and/or the shape of the gear is proper on the basis of data measured by the measuring means.
