<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a display device which has excellent color property and decoration property expressed with multicolors in the light place as well as in the dark place. <P>SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display element 11 with which information is displayed by selectively applying voltage between a pair of electrode substrates 14, 15, having a liquid crystal sealed in and disposed between upper and lower polarizing plates 16, 17, a transflective polycolor display member 12 disposed on the lower side of the liquid crystal display element 11, and an EL element 13 disposed on the lower side of the polycolor display member 12. Consequently, when external light passes through the liquid crystal display element 11 in the light place and irradiates the polycolor display member 12, the irradiating external light gets polycolored at the polycolor display member 12 and is reflected. Also, when the EL element 13 is made to emit light in the dark place, the emitted light gets polycolored at the polycolor display member 12 and is transmitted. Thereby polycolored light irradiates the liquid crystal display element 11 in the light place as well as in the dark place and, as a result, the liquid crystal display element 11 can be expressed with multicolors and the color property and the decoration property can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
