PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently edit many kinds of AV data accumulated to be edited in an AV server after copying the data in a small-capacity recorder. SOLUTION: A recorder 2 having a sparse function is connected to an edition terminal 1. Based on that the edition terminal 1 designates AV data to be edited, the recorder 2 forms an empty file having an equal quantity of sparse areas to the AV data, an AV server 3 reproduces and sends the AV data to the recorder 2 to write the data into the file in the recorder 2. When no empty capacity in the recorder 2 remains, the reproduce/read is temporarily stopped. When empty areas recover, the reproduce/read is resumed. When the edition terminal 1 determines a required range of the AV data written into the file in the recorder 2 for the edition, a portion of the file in the recorder 2 into which other AV data outside this range are written is taken as sparse areas.
