PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for repairing an EL display capable of accurately grasping a short part, to improve reliability of repair work and to enhance the efficiency of repairing work by preventing a misshot. SOLUTION: In this method for repairing the EL display 15, the repairing object EL display 15 is fully turned on. A non-luminescent pixel in the EL display 15 fully turned on is found within a low magnification visual field of an optical microscope 7 to locate its position. Based on the located position, the non-luminescent pixel is found within a high magnification visual field of an infrared temperature image detection microscope 5 to locate a position of a heat generating part. The heat generating part is matched with an optical axis of the optical microscope 7 and found within a high magnification visual field based on the located position of the heat generating part, and irradiated by a laser beam in the same optical axis as the optical microscope 7 to segmentize the short part which is the heat generating part.
