PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for controlling the attitude of a satellite 100 while its appendage 114 such as a large-sized reflector is spread. SOLUTION: The satellite has a mass characteristic varying when its appendage is spread and is equipped with a plurality of momentum wheels and a plurality of solar cells, and the environmental torque which the satellite 100 receives while the appendage 114 is spread is predicted, and a processor 202 is installed to calculate the size and the direction of the momentum applied to the satellite 100 oppositely at least partially to the predicted environmental torque, and the momentum wheels 242 and 244 store the size and the direction of the momentum calculated before the appendage 114 is spread.
