PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide navigation equipment with which the user can surely avoid a traffic jam by efficiently searching a route through which the user can avoid the traffic jam occurring spot and road by acquiring road congestion information. SOLUTION: The navigation equipment stores map data in a storing means and gives the user a route guide to the destination of the user by searching a route to the destination based on the map data stored in the storing means. The equipment acquires road congestion information on the route (step S11), presumes a secondary traffic jam from the acquired road congestion information, and changes the searching cost based on the presumed traffic jam (steps S12 and S13).
