A device for translation of an interesting virtual address from possible virtual addresses into a sought-after physical address, and includes a predetermined number of address translation entries each having a physical address and virtual address specification. A look-up device (106) is used for referencing in a special address translation entry or register whether therein the sought-after physical address is located with the interesting virtual address and for outputting the sought-after physical address if this is the case. The look-up /reference device (106) makes the decision whether or not the sought-after physical address resides in the special address translation entry or register depending on whether the interesting virtual address fulfills the specification of the special address translation entry/register. An Independent claim is included for a method of translating an interesting virtual address.
