PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device capable of improving the S/N (signal-to-noise ratio) and obtaining an output of high resolution by heightening the level of a signal to be outputted. SOLUTION: A CCD (charge-coupled device) line sensor 1 is installed with an inclination of angleαto image pickup reference surface A vertical to an optical axis B of incident light. The angleαis determined in accordance with an aspect ratio Lt:Ly of photo-detecting planes (pixels) of the CCD line sensor 1. The photo-detecting planes of the imaging device have the inclinations determined in accordance with the aspect ratio, such that a photo-detecting area can be secured widely in comparison with conventional technology, a quantity of photo-detecting light is increased, the level of the signal outputted from the CCD line sensor 1 can be increased, and the S/N can be improved.
