PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow electronic equipment having a plurality of substrates (electronic module) connected through a backboard to detect an abnormal state of a substrate (peripheral substrate) other than a main control substrate and to display the abnormal state on an external display device. SOLUTION: To transmission data between slots, for example, error correction such as a CRC check is applied. If an error occurs in a CRC code in a peripheral substrate (SLOT2 in this case) the main control substrate detects that there is the abnormal state in the peripheral substrate (when errors continuously occur several times, it is desirable to detect that the peripheral substrate has an abnormal state). After detecting the abnormal state, display is performed so as to notify the external display device to the effect that the abnormal state is detected in the peripheral substrate.
