PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection technology realizing the function of detecting rotation of a spool shaft with high precision and the function of detecting a specific rotation angle position of the spool shaft, at low cost, in a device for handling a film cartridge which has the function of indicating the use state of film by the specific rotation angle position of the spool taking up the film. SOLUTION: A film carrying device includes one rotator 72 rotating integrally with a spool rotation operation shaft body portion 52 which is connected to the spool and rotates the spool, a sensor 71 outputting detection signals obtained by detected portions 73, 74, 75 mounted on the rotator, and a spool rotation control portion detecting the rotation of the spool on the basis of the output signals from this sensor. A plurality of the detected portions 73, 74, 75 with different detection characteristics are formed on the rotator along a circumference thereof. The spool rotation control portion detects the specific rotation angle position of the spool and a plurality of one rotations of the spool on the basis of the output signals from the sensor.
