PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost optical scanner excellent in dustproof, and to make it possible to adjust the position of a photo sensor from outside. SOLUTION: Mere attaching a circuit board 176 on an outer surface of a housing 16 permits to house a photo-diode element 21 in a housing 16, which closes an opening part 185 and prevents dust or the like from entering the housing 16. Since the circuit board 176 is attached on the outer surface of the housing 16, it is unnecessary to secure a space for attaching the whole circuit board 176 in the housing 16, and it becomes possible to secure a space for attaching optical components accordingly. Furthermore, at replacement of the photo-diode element 21, the circuit board 176 attached on the outer surface of the housing 16 has only to be removed, so that the arrangement facilitates the maintenance.
