PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode member for a discharge tube of low cost, long life and low power consumption and the discharge tube as well as a liquid crystal display using the electrode member. SOLUTION: The electrode member for the discharge tube is formed by plastic working in machine work of a clad metal plate of a double-layer structure of a metal layer (B)1 made of a high-melting-point metal material and a metal layer (A)2 made of nickel or nickel alloy. Preferably, the electrode material for a fluorescent lamp has the high-melting-point metal layer (B)1 coated on the inside surface of a hollow-type electrode and the nickel metal layer (A)2 further inside.
