<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a mechanism to lock a platen roller to a frame regarding a clamshell type thermal printer. <P>SOLUTION: This thermal printer has the frame 51 having a platen roller receiving part 51e which receives the platen roller 60, and a thermal head supporting member 55 to which a thermal head 54 is fixed, and which is incorporated in the frame. The thermal head supporting member 55 has an arm part 70 on both sides, and has a platen roller locking part 72 which fastens a shaft part 60a on the ends of the platen roller, and a platen roller pushing out part 73 which pushes out the platen roller.
