PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption without impairing correct calculation of battery residual capacity. SOLUTION: A switch 30b is opened when a control signal ST shows a standby mode of an apparatus body 102. Thereby, power feed to a current detection circuit 30 is stopped so that the detection circuit 30 stops its operation. A remaining capacity calculation microcomputer 31 calculates the battery residual capacity by using a previously stored estimated current data I' as a current value because a discharge current I flowing through a power line 16 can not be obtained by calculation when the detection circuit 30 stops its operation.
