PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently evacuate air by carrying out the optionally timely evacuation of air from a hydraulic oil of a mold clamping cylinder. SOLUTION: This air evacuation mechanism is equipped with a mold clamping side oil chamber 7 whose capacity is increased/decreased by moving a ram 8 together with a movable platen 5 by a mold opening/closing means and a surge valve 20 connecting the mold clamping side oil chamber 7 with a tank 21. In addition, the mechanism comprises a mold clamping cylinder 6 which clamps a mold by supplying the hydraulic oil to the oil chamber 7, an air venting valve consisting of a solenoid changeover valve 26 which is connected with the top of the oil chamber 7 and opened/closed by a signal and a control means 27 which sends a signal to the air venting valve in an optionally timely manner.
