Disclosed herein are a controlled release formulation with increased stability and a method for preparing the same. The controlled release formulation comprises a pellet including a benzimidazole derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient and a cationic polymer, and at least one coating layer selected from an intermediate coating layer, a moisture-resistant coating layer and an enteric coating layer as an outer layer surrounding the pellet. The controlled release formulation electrostatically stabilizes benzimidazole derivatives or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, and thus exhibits excellent resistance to acidic and aqueous environments.
