PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the fracture of a shaft part caused by the reduction of a diameter, by reducing the axial tensile stress generated on the basic part of the shaft part, and to miniaturize a tensioner by reducing the shaft part, in the automatic tensioner wherein a rotating member rotatably supported on the shaft part held by a fixed member fixed to an engine for an automobile in a cantilevered state, is constantly energized in the rotating direction to press a transmission belt by a tension pulley, by a torsion spring. SOLUTION: An axially extended bolt insertion hole 81 and a bolt screwing part 82 are formed on a shaft part of the fixed member 10, and a bolt shaft part 72 of a compression bolt 70 inserted into the bolt insertion hole 81 is engaged with the bolt screwing part 82 in such manner that the basic part of the shaft part 11 is axially compressed with respect to a bolt head part 71 seated on a bolt seating surface.
