PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the added value of a device by creating a menu screen to match contents with respect to the contents recorded in a recording medium. SOLUTION: The device for recording information is provided with a first recording means for recording input image information in the first area of a recording medium for each recording unit, a representative data generation means for generating representative data representing image information recorded for each recording unit, a first memory for recording a plurality of symbol images, a second memory for recording a program to generate link information indicating a relation between the plurality of symbol images recorded in the first memory and the representative data, a link information generation means for generating link information based on the program, an image generation means for generating image information containing at least a related symbol image and the representative data, and a second recording means for recording the image information generated by the image generation means in the second area of the recording medium.
