The accumulator (1) has a housing (2a,2b) provided with an inlet (3) and an outlet for a cooling medium and a pipe insert for feeding the cooling medium between the upper and lower ends of the housing interior, provided with a bore (25) for suction of oil and a riser pipe section leading to the outlet. A spiral guide surface (19) extends over a given angle around the pipe insert for providing a circular flow component of the cooling medium along the inner mantle of the housing.
