The grid plate (1) has a peripheral frame (4) with a number of corners (2) joined together by side edges (3), with struts (5) within the frame extending between the corners. The spacing between 2 adjacent struts decreases moving away from one corner, before increasing again moving towards the next corner, or alternatively the struts exhibit an increasing longitudinal loading capacity moving away from the first corner and a decreasing loading capacity moving towards the next corner, provided by varying their cross-sectional geometry.
