AUXILIARY ELECTRODE BACKLIGHT

PURPOSE: An auxiliary electrode backlight is provided to be driven in a low voltage and offer uniform high luminance by disposing auxiliary electrodes in a lower portion of a reflective sheet. CONSTITUTION: A fluorescent lamp(10) has both end electrodes. A reflective sheet(13) is disposed in a lower portion of the fluorescent lamp(10). Auxiliary electrodes(14) are disposed in a lower portion of the reflective sheet(13). A voltage with polarity same with the polarity of the electrodes of the fluorescent lamp(10) is supplied to the auxiliary electrodes(14). The length of the auxiliary electrodes(14) is less than 1/2 of the length of the fluorescent lamp(10). The width of the auxiliary electrodes(14) is less than an external diameter of the fluorescent lamp(10).
