The vehicle turbocharger has a flow guide grid (5) to vary the cross-sectional area of the exhaust gas channel (4) movably mounted in a matrix (6), which together with the grid, forms an annular, replaceable restriction (7) for the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine blades (20). The matrix is releasably secured to the turbocharger casing (2) and leaves a defined gap between it and the impeller (3), driven by the exhaust gas.
