PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film having little coarse protrusion and excellent sliding property, winding property and scraping resistance, and esp. suitable characteristics as a base film for an electromagnetic recording medium and a condenser. SOLUTION: This film contains 0.0001-0.03 wt.% silicone resin minute particle A which has an average particle diameter of 0.8-2.0μm and its not less than 80% is composed of a unit represented by the formula: RSiO3/2 (wherein R is at least one selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group and a phenyl group), and 0.05-1.0 wt.% inactive minute particle having an average diameter of smaller than that of the silicone resin minute particle A. |
