The present invention discloses a method of analysing an ocular image and comprises the steps of: (i) determining for each pixel in a greyscale digital image of at least part of an eye whether that pixel is of interest, and (ii) calculating the proportion of pixels of interest relative to the total number of pixels in the image. A pixel is of interest if it is determined as constituting part of an edge feature, with the edge feature determination comprising for each pixel the steps of: - (a) defining a 3x3 matrix centred on the pixel, (b) altering the intensity of the pixel according to the intensities of the pixels in the 3x3 matrix centred on the pixel using a predefined kernal function, and (c) returning the pixel as of interest if its intensity is above a predetermined threshold value. There is no smoothing of the image prior to the edge feature determination. The method has utility in the diagnosis of various anterior eye disorders, and in the general monitoring of eye condition. |
