PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the directivity of ultrasonic waves by eliminating parallelism variations in mounting a piezoelectric body and an acoustic matching layer. SOLUTION: The acoustic matching layer 36 is mounted to the upper surface of a top plate part 30 by a means of adhesion or the like, and the piezoelectric body 29 is similarly mounted to its lower surface. The top plate part 30 is constituted as a separate body from side wall parts 37. The top plate part 30 is fixed to the side wall parts 37 by welding or the like. Since the top plate part 30 is constituted as a separate body in this way, the parallelism of the top plate part 30 is easily secured, directivity variations of ultrasonic waves is eliminated, and a highly reliable ultrasonic transmitter/receiver is provided.
