VIBRATIONAL ENERGY ABSORBING STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a vibrational energy absorbing structure for restraining swinging of a structure by an earthquake and a strong wind between a pile and the structure. SOLUTION: Vibrational energy can be efficiently absorbed by arranging a mechanism for absorbing the vibrational energy between the pile 10 and a foundation part 12. Reforming work at deteriorated time is facilitated since there is no need to support the structure by laminated rubber like a base isolation device. A damping device 30 constitutes a shape variable triangular link of a pair of second arms 36 and a pair of arms 42, and amplifies displacement of a first ball joint 44 by a second ball joint 38. Thus, displacement of a steel bar 20 is absorbed by being efficiently converted into heat by a damper arranged between the second ball joint 38. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
