PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage or displacement of a gear from occurring when an impossible force is applied to one pinion. SOLUTION: This roll type shielding device 6 comprises a windable shielding material 7, a storing section 8 for winding and storing the shielding material 7, the movable frame 9 for pulling out or in the shielding material 7 from the storing section 8, guiding sections 10 and 10 for guiding both ends of the movable frame 9 slidably, racks 11 and 11 disposed respective guiding sections 10 and 10, pinions 12 and 12 meshing with respective racks 11 and 11, and an interlocking shaft 13 that is rotatably supported along the movable frame 9 and interconnects both pinions 12 and 12. An absorbing member 56 for absorbing the impossible force applied to one pinion 12 is disposed between at least one pinion 12 and the interlocking shaft 13, or in the intermediate part of the interlocking shaft 13.
