<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for enhancing secretory capacity of a specified alkaline protease. <P>SOLUTION: The alkaline protease has a prepro sequence, wherein the prepro sequence comprises a variant prepro sequence in which an amino acid residue at a 52 position (a), a 75 position (b) or a 142 position (c) in a specified amino acid sequence, or each of other positions corresponding to the above positions in another amino acid sequence having a homology of ≥80%, to the specified amino acid sequence is substituted by a specified amino acid as follows: an aspartic acid or arginine residue for the position (a); an alanine or arginine residue for the position (b); and a lysine residue for the position (c), and a mature enzyme thereof comprises the specified amino acid sequence or the other amino acid sequence having the homology to the specified amino acid sequence of ≥80%.
