INK JET PRINTER AND INK JET RECORDING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ink from being set on the surface of a recording head even when abnormality occurs in an ink jet printer.

SOLUTION: The ink jet printer is equipped with a linear encoder 17 detecting a scanning state of the recording head 6 and a motor encoder 20 detecting the scanning state of a recording medium 2 and with a control part 19 which stops relative scanning of the recording head 6 and the recording medium 2 and also stops irradiation with ultraviolet rays by an ultraviolet irradiation device 8 in the case when a judgment is made that the scanning is not executed normally from the results of detection by the linear encoder 17 and the motor encoder 20.
