IP TELEPHONE GATEWAY UNIT AND ITS PROCESSING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IP telephone gateway unit in which an originator can make a decision readily whether the IP telephone gateway unit is connected with an existing telephone network or not. SOLUTION: A circuit 16 for detecting connection with an existing telephone network detects connection of an IP telephone gateway unit with an existing telephone network. An SLIC 14 or 15 detects off-hook of a telephone and if a decision is made that the detecting circuit 16 does not detect connection with an existing telephone network when a call is originated through the existing telephone network, a CPU 11 controls the SLIC 14 or 15 to deliver a busy tone to the telephone. Consequently, the originator can make a decision readily whether the IP telephone gateway unit is connected with an existing telephone network or not. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
