PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint collation device and method performing processing related to the collation of fingerprint without connecting the fingerprint data. SOLUTION: This fingerprint collation device is provided with a fingerprint sensor part 11 having a dimension smaller than the dimension of the fingerprint fp, having a rectangular shape with the length of one side shorter than the other dimension and detecting the fingerprint fp, a memory 13 specifying fingerprint data d_fpck for fingerprint collation from the fingerprint data fp detected by the fingerprint sensor part 11 by the sweep of the fingerprint based on change information of recess/projection frequency on a line along a prescribed direction of the fingerprint data d_fpck obtained by sweeping the fingerprint fp relative to the fingerprint sensor part 11, a binarization part 14, a measuring part 15, a peak detecting part 16, a data storage part 17 storing registered fingerprint data d_fpr, and a collation part 18 performing the collation based on the registered data d_fpr and the fingerprint collation fingerprint data d_fpck.
