The device for the unloading of bales from a wagon or wagons accessible from the side consists of a grab formed by two pincer-like gripping arms (1,2) which are designed so that the fixed gripping arm (1) has a mounting (3) around which the other gripping arm (2) can pivot. The mounting is located on the fixed arm so that with the ends of both gripping arms gripping the bails coming together the fixed arm grips the bail from the top and the other arm from the front.
