摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize good battery characteristics and prevention of swelling due to gas generation at the same time. <P>SOLUTION: An average particle size and a specific surface area of a composite oxide of lithium as a cathode active substance and transition metal are to be in an appropriate range, and a fluorine treatment is applied on it. The average particle size of the composite oxide is 3 &mu;m to 24 &mu;m, and the specific surface area 0.10m<SP>2</SP>/g to 0.92m<SP>2</SP>/g. Further, as a result of the fluorine treatment, 0.2 to 3.5 weight percent of fluorine atoms against the composite oxide exist on the surface of the complex oxide as an active substance material.
