PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for driving an electrolytic capacitor capable of increasing a withstand voltage and capable of inhibiting the rise of resistivity at a high temperature. SOLUTION: A carboxylic acid or its salt, a boric acid or its salt, and 4-octyl diphenyl amine of 0.1 to 10.0 wt. % shown by a chemical formula are dissolved in a solvent mainly comprising ethylene glycol. An Azelaic acid, a sebasic acid, an 1,6-decane dicarboxylic acid, a 5,6-decane dicarboxylic acid or the like is used as the carboxylic acid. Primary amine salt such as methylamine, ethylamine or the like, secondary amine salt such as dimethylamine, ethyl methyl amine or the like, tertiary amine salt such as trimethylamine, diethyl methyl amine or the like and quaternary ammonium salt such as tetramethyl ammonium besides ammonium salt is used as the carboxylic acid or the boric acid.
