OPEN TYPE COOLING TOWER AND ITS FREEZING PREVENTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open type cooling tower capable of stably producing extremely low temperature cooled water under the circumstances that the wet bulb temperature of outside air is extremely low, and its freezing prevention method. SOLUTION: The circulation amount of air circulating in a filler unit 2 is reduced as the wet bulb temperature of outside air is lower under the circumstances that the wet bulb temperature of the outside air is 0°C WB or lower, whereby the quantity of heat exchange between the cooled water 3 and air is maintained when the wet bulb temperature of the outside air is 0°C WB. The freezing of the filler unit 2 is thus prevented while the overcooling of the cooled water 3 is prevented, allowing stable production of the extremely low temperature cooled water under the circumstances that the wet bulb temperature of the outside air is extremely low, 0°C WB or lower.
