PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of predicting a residual cornering force of a tire without the need to prototype the tire. SOLUTION: A tire is divided into a plurality of elements and a residual cornering force is calculated by an analysis based on a finite element method using a meshed tire model. In this occasion, the slip angle of the tire model is varied for every step, and a cornering force and self-aligning torque for every torque are acquired, and the cornering force corresponding to the slip angle when the self-aligning torque is zero is calculated as the residual cornering force based on the acquired cornering force and the self-aligning torque.
