The device has an exhaust gas inlet and outlet and inlet channels communicating with the exhaust gas inlet at their inlet ends and communicating between their ends via a porous wall with an outlet channel(s) closed at its inlet end facing the exhaust gas inlet and communicating with the exhaust gas outlet at its outlet end facing the exhaust gas outlet. The inlet channels have more capacity for non-combustible deposits than the outlet channel(s). The device has an exhaust gas inlet (4) and outlet (5) and several inlet channels (6) that communicate with the exhaust gas inlet at their inlet ends (7) and that communicate between their ends (7,8) via a porous wall (12) with at least one outlet channel (9) that is closed at its inlet end facing the exhaust gas inlet and communicates with the exhaust gas outlet at its outlet end facing the exhaust gas outlet. The inlet channels have a greater capacity for non-combustible deposits than the at least one outlet channel.
