PURPOSE: A device for automatically setting a call forwarding function and a method therefor are provided to automatically input a designated receiving number if a receiver does not answer the phone as many as preset ring frequencies, in order to set a call forwarding function, and to automatically cancel the call forwarding function if the receiver answers the phone, thereby removing inconvenience. CONSTITUTION: A ring sensor(10) senses a bell frequency. A loop sensor(20) senses whether a user uses a telephone. A CPU(30) senses the bell frequency, and decides whether the user uses the telephone. A dial deliver portion(40) performs a dialing process in order to set or cancel a call forwarding function. When the user does not respond to a received call, a system decides whether to set the call forwarding function or to store a received telephone number in a memory device(50).
