Methods for the treatment, management or prevention of apnea and apnea disorders, or symptoms thereof, are disclosed, using a therapeutically effective amount of substantially optically pure R (+) ondansetron, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, substantially free of its S (-) stereoisomer.
