Centrifugal separator for separating solid and/or liquid particles suspended in gaseous media, comprising a rotor (12) provided with sedimentation means (14), which is mounted rotatably in a surrounding, stationary housing (20) and has a central inlet (26) for the gaseous medium to be purified. An axial side wall (28) of the housing encloses the periphery of the sedimentation means (14) of the rotor in such a way that a chamber (30) with a cross section increasing successively in the direction of rotation of the rotor is formed between the rotor and the side wall of the housing. The outlet for the purified gas and the outlet for the solid and/or liquid particles are formed by a common outlet duct (32) which has an inlet mouth (34) connected essentially tangentially to the housing (20) with an extent in the axial direction of the housing which corresponds at least essentially to the axial length of that part of the rotor (12) containing the sedimentation means (14). The outlet duct (32) is provided with means (36, 38) for draining the solid and/or liquid particles transferred onto the side wall (28) of the housing by a centrifugal force and conveyed to the outlet duct (32). |
