A driving stage delivers the pulsed driving current to the lamp during initial phase after a switch on signal is received, to heat the incandescent filament of lamp. A controller controls to deliver the pulsed current to the lamp during the initial phase of driving stage of lamp. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method of controlling the electric incandescent filament lamp; (2) computer program for controlling the electric incandescent filament lamp; and (3) computer readable medium storing program for controlling electric incandescent filament lamp.
