PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for driving the same are provided to improve the liquid crystal response speed between the intermediate gray levels as well as the liquid crystal response speed between the white level and the black level by raising the voltage applied to the liquid crystal cell by the coupling voltage of the second storage node capacitor. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal display panel, a gate driver, a data driver and a common voltage generation circuit. The liquid crystal display panel is provided with a plurality of liquid crystal cells, a first storage capacitor and a second storage capacitor. The gate driver supplies the dual scan pulse to the gate lines. The data driver supplies the pixel signal to the data lines. The common voltage generation circuit supplies the common voltage to the common electrode. The plurality of liquid crystal cells is formed at the cross-section between the gate lines and the data lines. The first storage capacitor is formed on the overlapping portion of the pixel electrode and the common electrode. And, the second storage capacitor is formed on the overlapping portion between the pixel electrode and the front gate line.
