PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling a window screen using a shortcut button of a pointing device are provided to conveniently perform a repeated window screen control work by performing a shortcut function of the shortcut button in an active window screen area after setting the function used for controlling the window screen to the shortcut button of the pointing device. CONSTITUTION: A shortcut button setting tool(20a) sets the shortcut button corresponding to the function of the button installed to the pointing device(11) and sets the function for operating the window screen to the set shortcut button. A discriminating tool(30) discriminates a setting state of the shortcut button if the shortcut button information of the pointing device is inputted. If the shortcut button is set, a data converter(40) converts the shortcut button information into the information for performing the function to operate the active window screen and outputs the converted information.
