PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panel driving method of representing gradations by a mixed system of an address period and a maintenance period and a device therefor. SOLUTION: Gradations of visible luminance of a cell are determined by dividing one frame period wherein one image is displayed into a plurality of subfields, individually allocating gradations embodied with the respective subfields, and selectively driving the subfields, an address period and a maintenance period are provided in order for pixels belonging to each group as to at least one of the subfields, but pixels in other groups are in a half period during the address period for pixels of one group; and pixels of other groups already after the address period during the maintenance period are selectively in the maintenance period after the address period of the pixels in the one group.
