METHOD FOR CODE COMPRESSION OF PROGRAM ENABLING RAPID PROTOTYPING OF CODE COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGIES AND CODE COMPRESSION SYSTEMS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code compression method of a program for enabling rapid prototyping of code compression technologies.

SOLUTION: The method is for code compression of a program which comprises a step to separate a code from data. Software conversion necessary to perform address mapping between compressed and uncompressed spaces are introduced into the code. Statistics are obtained about occurrence frequency instructions, wherein the statistics include occurrence frequency of two consecutive instructions. The program is analyzed to identify occurrence frequency of instructions or instruction pairs. The identified instruction is replaced with an address for indicating a compressed bus-word table. An address mapping from uncompressed address to compressed addresses is generated.
