<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-piece solid golf ball having an excellent flying performance, high cover durability and shear and abrasion resistance and a soft hitting feeling. <P>SOLUTION: For the golf ball, a solid core is formed of a rubber composition including a rubber base material containing polybutadiene synthesized by using a rare earth element based catalyst, a small amount of organic peroxide, unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or its metal salt, an organosulfur compound and an inorganic filler.
