PURPOSE: A method of driving an LD(Laser Diode) for data recording of an optical disk and a method therefor are provided to record data by using an LD driving signal without overpower, thereby simply detecting/storing a variable value for generating the LD driving signal. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer detects prestored variable values(S10). When a recording operation is requested(S20), a digital recording signal processor generates a main pulse and a sub pulse, respectively(S21), and outputs the generated pulses to an LD driver. The digital recording signal processor outputs the sub pulse more quickly than the main pulse(S22). The LD driver outputs an LD driving signal to an LD of an optical pickup(S23). The optical pickup records data on an optical disk(S24). If a recording operation is completed(S30), the procedure is finished.
