<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hexagonal cell honeycomb structure, which is particularly preferably used as a catalyst carrier for purifying car exhaust gas, has high mechanical strength and good purification capability, and causes small pressure loss. <P>SOLUTION: A hexagonal cell honeycomb structure 1 has multiple cell passage partitions 2, wherein the cross section of a cell 3 is hexagon-shaped. In this case, the partition angle (θ) is 30°, and the ratio (C/B) of the average compression breakdown strength of a C-axis to that of a B-axis of the hexagonal cell honeycomb structure 1 is set at 0.9 or more. Alternatively, the range of the partition angle (θ) is determined to be 30°<θ<45°, and the isostatic breakdown strength is determined to be 4 MPa or more. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
