<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multibeam image forming apparatus that forms a specific pattern image serving for identifying an image formed with each laser beam and that uses the specific pattern image for correcting pixel shift in the main scanning direction of each laser beam by detecting the density of a formed image by using an image reading means, and to provide a pixel shift correction method. <P>SOLUTION: The multibeam image forming apparatus has: the image reading means which reads an image signal for forming an image; a multibeam optical system which emits a plurality of laser beams; and an image signal generating means which generates the image signal for driving the laser beams. The multibeam image forming apparatus forms an image obtained by irradiating the surface of a photoreceptor with the laser beam onto photographic paper being a recording medium. The specific pattern is formed by the image signal generating means, the specific pattern image is formed on the photographic paper, and the density of the output image of the specific pattern formed on the photographic paper is detected by the image reading means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
