摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-directional overrunning clutch mechanism to efficiently disengage the clutch. <P>SOLUTION: This mechanism comprises an outer race having a cylindrical inner circumferential surface, an inner race having an outer circumferential surface concentric with the cylindrical inner circumferential surface, and a roller inserted between the cylindrical inner circumferential surface and the outer circumferential surface. An urging member urges the roller toward a non-engagement position. The roller is moved from the non-engagement position to the engagement position against the urging force of the urging member by energizing an actuator to lock the inner race and the outer race, and prevents any relative rotation. A working disk is deflected when it is pressed against an end wall, and the working disk and the end wall have a first portion and a second portion, respectively. When the working disk is moved toward the end wall, the first portions are brought into surface contact with each other, and the second portions are brought into contact with each other when the working disk is pressed against the end wall, and slightly deflected by the force of the actuator.
